A slim ivory figurine lacking head and feet. It is regarded as the first Paleolithic Venus found in the modern era, and was named Venus Impudique by Paul Hurault in reference to classical Roman Venus Pudica ('modest Venus') sculptures in which the goddess Venus covers her breasts with one hand and groin with the other. This is the origination of the term 'Venus figurines', which has been used for palaeolithic sculptures of women.
Found in 1864, name means Immodest Venus.
